Rapid Prototyping

The Rapid Prototyping laboratory is equipped with two FDM machines. One is the FDM 2000 Statasys and the FDM Titan. Both use ABS materials for building prototypes. The Titan system can even use Polycarbonate and Polyphenylsulfone to build prototypes up to 14" x 16" x 16" with an accuracy of +/- .005 inch per inch up to 5 inches. It also equipped with Waterworks technology a soluble support material for ABS parts that can be dissolved.

The lab is also equipped with a unique prototyping machine that is being designed, realized and built inside the lab. The machine uses a laser beam and multiple materials in order to build functionally graded components and objects with locally controlled properties. The machine is still being developed and in the future multiple power sources will be implemented.
